This Honda features major technologies developed by the manufacturer, such as the low-emission CVCC engine, VTEC (and i-VTEC with VTC) progressive electronic valve timing and lift control, and the IMA hybrid system.
Through the years, Honda created several lines of models based on the Civic body, such as the CRX coupe and Shuttle wagon.

Note that Honda has produced several Japan-only models. The most famous are the Civic Type R EK9 (185 hp B16B engine) and FD2 (225 hp K20A engine). Mugen is well known to fans of the brand, and has tuned many Civics, such as the Mugen RR, which was released in 2007 and limited to 300 units with a 240 hp engine.
