Spacers
Why use wheel spacers?
Wheel spacers increase the axle track width of the vehicle, in other words they lengthen the distance between the wheels on the same axle. Sold in pairs, these several millimeter thick spacers are hollowed out in the center and drilled with several holes. They are usually made of aluminum and placed between the wheel and the hub.
You can use spacers for several reasons: to improve the handling and stability of your vehicle, to install a big brake kit, or to bring the wheels closer to the fenders for a chunkier look. There are also PCD converters to mount, for instance, 5x114.3 wheels on a 4x114.3 vehicle.
While the thinnest spacers are usually compatible with OEM bolts, other thicker models need the use of extended bolts. We can then distinguish spacers with single bolts (to screw simply onto the hub) and double bolts (to screw onto both the hub and the wheel).
Spacers use is regulated in motorsport. Depending on the disciplines and classes, they can be approved or prohibited. It is therefore important to check with the federation before any installation.
