P4P NACA Vent Specifications

A NACA vent is designed to increase airflow while disturbing the vehicle’s boundary layer as little as possible. Its narrow shape followed by a gradual widening lowers static pressure and draws air in like a 'vacuum', without creating the drag of a protruding scoop. The smooth, curved expansion prevents flow separation and reduces turbulence.

These vents are useful for capturing air in areas not directly exposed to airflow, such as the sides or roof. They take advantage of the boundary layer, a thin layer of slower-moving air clinging to the bodywork. Their effectiveness comes in part from counter-rotating vortices that push this layer away and pull faster air into the intake. Although they generate less pressure than protruding intakes, they are commonly used for engine and cockpit ventilation.
