GKTech Rear Knuckles Specifications
Developed over 8 years and with more than 1,000 pairs sold worldwide, the GKTech V2 rear knuckles for S / R / Z32 chassis platforms have been engineered to provide an excellent balance between lightweight construction and rigidity. They feature integrated dual caliper brackets as standard, high-quality PTFE-lined spherical bearings throughout, and completely revised suspension kinematics designed to drastically improve anti-squat, bump steer, camber gain curves, and roll center height.
This V2 version delivers even greater rigidity compared to the highly popular V1:
- Ability to run dual calipers without spacing the brake rotor outward
- Compatible with the factory drum handbrake system in its original position with either single or dual caliper setups
- Compatible with the Wilwood 120-10188 caliper as a dual caliper setup on the OEM 9 mm solid rotor
- 40 mm drop, optimized for vehicles lowered by 40 mm compared to factory ride height (greater drop would require proprietary suspension arms)
- High-quality PTFE-lined spherical bearings fitted as standard using a common and easily replaceable bearing size (Part Number: COM10T)
- Completely revised kinematics providing significantly more grip compared to conventional drop uprights
- Optimized camber curve for more even tire wear
- Optimized bump steer characteristics to generate toe-in under compression without relying on OEM arm elastokinematics
- Increased anti-squat for improved rear weight transfer and traction
- Raised roll center height for improved handling characteristics
- Lightweight folded steel construction optimized for maximum strength
- Total assembled weight (including bearings, spacers, and circlips): 3.9 kg compared to 5.1 kg for OEM uprights
- Additional clearance for larger GT-R driveshafts
Installation notes:
- The uprights must be installed with the bearing mounting holes perpendicular to the ground at static ride height. Extended lower control arms that move the wheel rearward within the wheel arch will not function correctly, or may not function at all if excessively extended. GKTECH rear lower control arms adjust perpendicular to the vehicle centerline, which is considered the most appropriate geometry.
- Compatible with all GT-R and Z32 chassis when using an S-chassis style lower coilover mounting configuration.
- Compatible with 17-inch wheels (and even some 16-inch wheels with low offsets) as well as all 18-inch wheels. The closer the wheel sits to the wheel arch, the greater the chance of contact with the suspension arm mounting bracket. A 17x10.5 +22 Enkei RPF1 wheel was tested with approximately 5 mm of remaining clearance.
- Aftermarket camber, caster, and traction arms are mandatory and must use spherical bearings (rose joints). Due to the significantly altered suspension mounting points, rubber bushings or similar components will not provide sufficient angular misalignment. Lower control arms may remain OEM or aftermarket and do not require replacement.
- OEM S-chassis single-piston calipers can be used in either single or dual caliper configurations, however the drum handbrake lever will not fit without modification.
- It is also possible to use the OEM single-piston caliper as the primary brake caliper while using the Wilwood 120-10188 as the secondary hydraulic handbrake caliper.
- OEM GTS-T / GT-R / Z32 two-piston calipers are a direct fit and retain the factory drum handbrake system without modification.
- For optimal performance, the use of an S14/S15 or R33 rear subframe is recommended, or alternatively the GKTECH S13/R32 RLCA anti-squat kit.
