The Davies Craig Variable Speed Controller is an advanced thermal management solution designed for the intelligent control of electric fans (Thermatic®) and brushless electric water pumps (EWP®). It automatically adjusts operating speed based on the measured temperature to optimize cooling while reducing power consumption, noise, and component wear. This controller is particularly suitable for automotive, motorsport, electric vehicle, industrial, and marine applications that require precise and reliable thermal regulation.
With its pulse-width modulation (PWM) electronic control system, the controller ensures smooth and efficient operation of connected equipment. It features two independent outputs that can be configured separately, allowing simultaneous management of multiple fans and/or pumps with distinct settings according to the needs of the cooling system.
The controller includes multiple operating modes and adjustable parameters to finely tune the cooling strategy. Users can set trigger temperatures, minimum operating speeds, and shutdown conditions. A post-ignition run-on function allows the cooling to continue after engine shutdown to help prevent heat soak.
To ensure system safety, the controller features an automatic protection mode. In the event of a thermal sensor failure, the outputs immediately switch to full speed to prevent overheating. Manual control inputs are also provided to force activation or deactivation of the outputs as required. Designed for use in demanding environments, the enclosure has IP67 waterproof protection, providing excellent resistance to water, dust, and vibration. The kit includes a threaded temperature sensor (1/4″ or 1/8″ NPT), making it easy to integrate directly into the existing cooling system.
