CL Brakes Range of Brake Pads Specifications

Based in Gennevilliers, France, CL Brakes (formerly Carbone Lorraine) manufactures high-performance brake pads made of sintered metal for motorsports. This material, based on graphite, ceramic, iron, copper and bronze, is far superior to organic compounds and covers all the stresses of a racing car during braking. It combines power, heat resistance, cold bite and optimal efficiency even under water, sand and mud. CL Brakes pads are developed with NoNiTech technology (nickel, asbestos and lead metal free) to reduce their impact on the environment.

The CL Brakes range of brake pads includes products suitable for all motorsport disciplines, from rally to track. Each model has its own capabilities and a specific average coefficient of friction (µ) to meet a particular use:

  • RC5+ : An ideal compound for light cars and single-seaters or to use in low grip conditions. Very low wear and low noise. Average coefficient of friction: 0.40.
  • RC6 : A very well balanced compound for rally or track use that features consistent friction and power. Good quality brake fluid required. Average coefficient of friction: 0.50.
  • RC6-E : A compound designed for endurance races which stands out for its high level of friction and very low wear. Remarkable stability in hot and cold conditions. Average coefficient of friction: 0.46
  • RC8 : A compound with a very high coefficient of friction adapted to the most intense racing conditions such as WRC, WTCR, GT or Group A events. High performance brake fluid required. Average coefficient of friction: 0.60.
  • RC8-R : A compound that features grooves on the backing plate to reduce heat transfer. Recommended for use in a well-ventilated system or to help solve boiling liquid. Average coefficient of friction: 0.60.

CL Brakes, formerly Carbone Lorraine, is a French company specialized in braking systems for cars, motorcycles and mountain bikes. It manufactures sintered metal brake pads whose performance is recognized worldwide at its production site in Gennevilliers. Involved in competition since 1994, the brand offers products for many applications, from rally to circuit, sprint or endurance races.
