Askubal Rod Ends and Spherical Plain Bearings Specifications

Spherical bearings and rod ends are an integral part of motorsports. Askubal's many years of experience in the development and production of bearings form the foundation of their motorsports range. Their applications cover all forms of motorsports, from go-karts and motorcycles to race cars, rally cars, and even Formula 1. The spherical bearings are used in chassis, shock absorbers, steering linkages, as well as in suspensions and drive train.

The bearings used in motorsports are fundamentally similar to those in the industry. However, industrial bearings are usually not suitable for automotive competition. The requirements for bearings in this field differ from those in mechanical engineering. Optimal performance and high load capacity are essential criteria. This is why Askubal has developed a range specifically designed to withstand the high loads and speeds of motorsports.

The bearings are available in different series, with metric or UNF dimensions, in a maintenance-free version with a PTFE coating or a maintenance-required version, with or without a V-groove. They can have internal or external threading, right-hand, left-hand, or fine-pitch threads.

Askubal bearings comply with DIN ISO 12240-1 and 12240-4 standards. These standards define dimensional series, tolerances, internal radial clearance, and dimensions. However, they remain quite broad, allowing for a wide variety of material combinations, surface treatments, and sliding elements. On the other hand, designations, permissible loads, and service life calculations are not standardized and vary between manufacturers. Do not confuse this product with low-cost, unbranded spherical bearings, which are fragile and dangerous. Askubal spherical bearings are extremely strong and do not break!
