Fuel Pumps
Our selection of high performance fuel pumps
At the core of the fuel system, the fuel pump is responsible for drawing gasoline from the tank to deliver it pressurized and continuously to the engine. Used mainly on carbureted engines, external low pressure mechanical pumps have given way on electronic injection engines to electric pumps immersed directly in the tank.
To increase the performance of an engine, you need to add more air and fuel to it. The OEM fuel pump is therefore one the first items to be changed when you get large injectors, higher boost pressure or ethanol-tuned ECU because it may no longer be able to provide sufficient flow.
High performance in-tank or external fuel pumps are available on the market. The choice depends on the use of the vehicle, each has pros and cons. In general, in-tank pumps benefit from lower operating noise, better cooling and reduced risk of leakage. The external ones benefit from a simpler maintenance thanks to their easy access and are recommended on high horsepower engines.
Note that other components of the fuel system may need to be replaced depending on the high flow pump that you choose. For example, it is recommended to buy a suitable fuel pressure regulator on a highly tuned car.
