Summary:
BC Racing is a leading company in the field of coilover suspensions. With a particularly rich catalog and extremely competitive prices, the brand has grown very quickly on the international level and is constantly developing new products to meet the requirements of both amateurs and professionals.
On each of their models, the threaded body allows adjustment of the vehicle height through the lower shock mounts, independent of the spring preload adjustment, without altering the travel. Many sets include pillowball top mounts with camber adjustments capabilities. The lower alloy locking rings are designed to ensure optimum support of the shock body in the lower mount, without any play.
The large 46mm piston is housed in a 53mm body to both maximize oil capacity and provide better guidance. Finally, the use of a new generation of shock absorber oil provides superior stability and lower heat build-up for improved endurance and consistency.
In order to help you make your choice, here is a guide detailing the main characteristics of the different ranges of BC Racing coilovers:
V1 range: 1 way, linear
Intended for daily and sporty road use, the BC Racing V1 Street range allows an adjustment of the damping force on 30 positions with the help of a knob (rebound and compression simultaneously) and an easy setting of the ride height over a wide range, ideal for lowering the vehicle considerably.
In daily use in streets and at higher speeds, these coilovers deliver very high quality damping without compromising comfort thanks to the use of rubber upper mounts at the front and rear. Some Street V1 coilovers nevertheless features pillowball mounts, which can offer camber adjustment depending on the vehicle.
Variants:
- V1-VS:
The V1-VS coilovers are equipped with front and rear rubber top mounts.
- V1-VT:
The V1-VT coilovers are equipped with front rubber top mounts and don’t feature rear top mounts (OEM bushes must be reused).
- V1-VL:
The V1-VL coilovers don’t feature front top mounts (OEM bushes must be reused) and are equipped with rear top mounts.
- V1-VN:
The V1-VN coilovers don’t feature front or rear top mounts (OEM bushes must be reused).
- V1-VH:
The V1-VH coilovers are equipped with front and rear pillowball top mounts.
- V1-VA:
The V1-VA coilovers are equipped with front pillowball top mounts and, where possible, rear rubber top mounts.
- V1-VM:
The V1-VM coilovers are equipped with front rubber top mounts (on MacPherson) and, where possible, rear rubber top mounts.
BR range: 1 way, linear
The BR Club sport range is suitable for sporty use on the road and occasional use on track and dirt thanks to a slightly higher spring rate compared to the V1 coilovers. These kits retain the 30-position damping adjustability and extended ride height setting to suit most conditions.
With their solid construction and attractive design, these BR coilovers also promote suspension feedback and increase steering precision thanks to the use of pillowball top mounts on certain sets. Camber adjustment plates are also available for perfect wheel alignment without compromise.
Variants:
- BR-RS:
The BR-RS coilovers are equipped with front and rear rubber top mounts.
- BR-RA:
The BR-RA coilovers are equipped with front pillowball top mounts and, where possible, rear rubber top mounts.
- BR-RH:
The BR-RH coilovers are equipped with front and rear pillowball top mounts.
- BR-RN:
The BR-RN coilovers don’t feature front top mounts (OEM bushes must be reused) and are equiped, when possible, with rear rubber top mounts.
RM range: 1 way, inverted
Coilovers from the Inverted RM range retain all the characteristics of the BR models but benefit from an improved design for intensive sports use. The inverted monotube design has the advantages of keeping shock fluid away from the heat of the brake system, supporting greater lateral load and reducing unsprung masses.
Very robust and durable, RM inverted coilovers are suitable for extreme conditions and are perfect for racing (drift, hill climb, rally…). They do, however, require periodic maintenance.
Variants:
- RM-MA:
The RM-MA coilovers are equipped with front inverted shock absorbers with pillowball top mounts and rear standard shock absorbers with, when possible, rubber top mounts.
- RM-MH:
The RM-MH coilovers are equipped with front and rear inverted shock absorbers with pillowball top mounts.
ER range: 2 way, linear
The ER 2 way coilovers offer additional adjustment possibilities. They feature front and rear external tanks (increased oil capacity and delayed overheating point), allow independent rebound and compression setting, and benefit from a single-tube, dual-piston construction.
This range is ideal for those who want to fine-tune their suspension to 30 positions via the separate rebound (located on the upper part of the shock) and compression (below the external reservoir) adjustment knobs.
HR range: 2 way, inverted
The HR range has the same advantages as the RM coilovers, but also offers a 2-way adjustment of the damping stiffness. Each coilover incorporates an inverted monotube shock and offers independent compression and rebound adjustment.
On these coilovers, the external tank is attached to the top of the shock absorber for numerous possibilities of fitments under the hood or in the trunk for quick access on the track. This range is recommended for 100% track use.
ZR range: 3 way, linear
Designed for amateurs and pros alike who don’t want to compromise on suspension tuning, the ZR range is comprised of 3-way coilovers for all uses. They offer independent adjustment of rebound (30 positions), low-speed compression (15 positions) and high-speed compression (12 positions).
On vehicles equipped with MacPherson struts, ZR coilovers include an inverted monotube shock absorber with its Teflon braided hose connecting the top of the shock absorber to the external reservoir for remote mounting under the bonnet or in the boot.
